What is Lutronic LaseMD Ultra
Lutronic LaseMD Ultra is a 1927 nm non-ablative fractional thulium laser with 20 W of power. It works on the superficial layers of the skin: it lightens sun damage and pigmentation, stimulates superficial collagen and improves texture and radiance, with minimal downtime. Indications include lentigines, solar lentigines, ephelides, benign pigmented lesions and actinic keratosis. It is designed for dermatologists and aesthetic physicians who want a rejuvenation treatment suitable for all skin types.
THE TECHNOLOGY
How the 1927 nm thulium laser works
1927 nm light is absorbed by water in the most superficial layers of the skin. The laser creates microbeams that coagulate small columns of tissue without removing the surface (non-ablative treatment): excess pigment is shed as the epidermis renews and superficial collagen regenerates.
Controlled Chaos Technology
Microbeams are placed rapidly and intelligently, away from one another: this reduces the risk of bulk heating and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), with more comfort for the patient.
IntelliTrak roller
The roller handpiece delivers energy rapidly and consistently as it glides over the skin, with measured energy from 1 to 20 mJ in 1 mJ steps.
Four tips included
Roller, C1 and Comb with 200 µm microbeams (the Comb tip is dedicated to the KeraLase protocol), plus the C5 tip with 350 µm microbeams for targeted pigment treatment.
Microchannels and topicals
The treatment creates microchannels that increase absorption of dedicated actives, such as LaseMD ampoules with vitamin A, vitamin C, tranexamic acid and resveratrol, and bio-cellulose masks for a more comfortable post-treatment experience.

What is the difference between a thulium laser and a fractional CO2 laser?
The 1927 nm thulium laser is non-ablative: it works on the superficial layers without removing tissue, with minimal recovery, and is ideal for pigmentation, radiance and texture. The fractional CO2 laser is ablative and is used for scars and deep wrinkles, with longer recovery.
Can it be used on all skin types and all year round?
Yes. Parameters are easily customised and treatment can be performed on all skin types in every season, always subject to the physician’s assessment.
What are the ampoules and masks used after treatment for?
The laser creates microchannels that increase absorption of actives such as vitamin A, vitamin C, tranexamic acid (to brighten skin tone) and resveratrol. Bio-cellulose masks moisturise and cool the skin after the session.
What is the recovery time?
Minimal. As a non-ablative laser, the skin surface stays intact; intensity, and therefore recovery, depends on the parameters chosen by the physician.
